Pier 77 and the Ramp are owned and run by Chef Peter Morency and his wife Kate who moved to Maine from San Francisco in 2003 to take over what was formerly Seascapes Restaurant. Striving for an environment that is as much fun as it is beautiful, as comfortable as it is friendly, the goal has always been to provide great food at a reasonable price with friendly & efficient staff to make any dining experience a memorable one. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, New York, in 1973 Peter worked at The Parker House and Café Budapest in Boston before moving out to the west coast and becoming Chef at fine Hotels such as The Mark Hopkins, Hotel Nikko and The Park Hyatt. Kate Morency works the front of house with a hands-on approach applying her 27 years of experience in all facets of the industry.
Pier 77 Restaurant is the more formal dining room with stunning views of Cape Porpoise Harbor and the working lobster boats that are moored there. During lunch you can watch the lobstermen motor in and row to the dock in their dinghies while the sunsets in the evenings paint the entire harbor bright hues of magenta, pink and purple. Music is integral to having a good time and Pier 77 has live music 7 days a week during peak season and music on the weekends in the off-season.
While you can sit at the bar in the main restaurant The Ramp Bar & Grill is even more casual with its own bar menu featuring items such as lobster rolls, fried clams, fish & chips, burgers and spaghetti & meatballs at prices that are hard to beat. Located under Pier 77, The Ramp is open right through the day with the Ramp menu and it is a bustling scene blending locals and tourists to enjoy Guinness on tap or a cocktail right on the waters edge.
