Pier 77 and the Ramp are owned and run by Chef Peter Morency and his wife Kate who moved to Maine from San Francisco in 2003 to take over what was formerly Seascapes Restaurant. Striving for an environment that is as much fun as it is beautiful, as comfortable as it is friendly, the goal has always been to provide great food at a reasonable price with friendly & efficient staff to make any dining experience a memorable one. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, New York, in 1973 Peter worked at The Parker House and Café Budapest in Boston before moving out to the west coast and becoming Chef at fine Hotels such as The Mark Hopkins, Hotel Nikko and The Park Hyatt. Kate Morency works the front of house with a hands-on approach applying her 27 years of experience in all facets of the industry.

Pier 77 Restaurant is the more formal dining room with stunning views of Cape Porpoise Harbor and the working lobster boats that are moored there. During lunch you can watch the lobstermen motor in and row to the dock in their dinghies while the sunsets in the evenings paint the entire harbor bright hues of magenta, pink and purple. Music is integral to having a good time and Pier 77 has live music 7 days a week during peak season and music on the weekends in the off-season.

While you can sit at the bar in the main restaurant The Ramp Bar & Grill is even more casual with its own bar menu featuring items such as lobster rolls, fried clams, fish & chips, burgers and spaghetti & meatballs at prices that are hard to beat. Located under Pier 77, The Ramp is open right through the day with the Ramp menu and it is a bustling scene blending locals and tourists to enjoy Guinness on tap or a cocktail right on the waters edge.

Hidden away in the woods, our Kennebunkport inn is located on a bank of the tidal Kennebunk River in Maine; Bufflehead Cove Inn bed and breakfast offers the tranquility of a peaceful setting with all of Kennebunkport’s attractions a few minutes away. Innkeepers James and Harriet Gott have blended a myriad of magical ingredients: cozy fireplaces, antique filled rooms…. soft music, lush romantic bedrooms and quiet pampering to create the “best kept hideaway in the Kennebunks.”

“Bufflehead Cove, the rambling cottage — spacious, homey, old-fashioned — is decidedly reminiscent of long-ago childhoods spent in the country: a place with a full cookie jar and lots of warmth and friendly chattiness, definitely woe-free and free-spirited, much like its owners, Harriet and Jim Gott.” -COUNTRY INNS/Bed & Breakfast

“Named for the diving seabirds which winter here, Bufflehead Cove Inn is located on six private acres at the end of a gravel lane that winds past several small ponds, less than a mile from the center of Kennebunkport. The location on the banks of the Kennebunk River is so peaceful that we could happily stay on the porch or viewing deck reading or looking at the myriad of waterfowl.” -THE DISCERNING TRAVELER

Reviews of Bufflehead Cove Inn Kennebunkport

Exceptional New England Retreat

I have traveled all over the U.S. and New England and have never found a better place for R&R. Jim and Harriet Gott (Innkeepers) always make my stay at BHC the best. Bufflehead Cove surpasses any B&B that I have experienced. The inn has wonderful spaces that are generous in size, which is unlike the typical New England inns with narrow staircases, halls and small nooks that innkeepers pass for bedrooms. I have stayed in every room and the cottage and all have a unique feel. The rooms are thoughfully decorated by Harriet and she really has a special flair for creating lovely spaces. Jim is a terrific chef/cook and bottle washer. He also makes sure that all aspects of the property are cared for and that their is always a fire in the main house’s fireplace when there is a chill in the air. The waterway makes for a very meditative setting. I just love spending time on or just by the river.

The Best in Kennebunkport

What a special place. Gerry and I have stayed in several inns including the White Barn during many years of visiting Kennebunkport. We have found the perfect spot. We stayed in the Hideaway suite and loved it. It was spacious and the view of the river was wonderful. Breakfast on the porch was very special. The fact that the inn is remote yet just 5 minutes away from Dock Square makes it the perfect getaway. Harriet and Lily, the lab, are perfect hosts!

A little paradise

from calico_7

The charming Bufflehead Cove Inn is nestled on a beautiful tidal river just minutes from the picturesgue town of Kennebunkport. Innkeepers Jim and Harriet Gott are absolutely delightful people who maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere and impecable accommodations. From the cosy River Room to the romantic Hideaway Suite, there are rooms to suit all tastes and budgets and over the past years we have stayed in all of them. Each morning a sumptuous breakfast is prepared by Jim then served with a beautiful smile by Harriet, and (weather permitting) it is often taken on the spacious porch overlooking the tidal river. We have watched ducks, cormorants and herons feeding there while we ate. If you are searching for that perfect beach, shop, or restaurant, Harriet is always available to advise guests, and in the surrounding area there is something for everyone, whether it’s sunbathing, outlet shopping, reading and relaxing, fishing, or whale watching. We just spent six days at the Inn in a week of pouring rain and yet we never failed to find something to enjoy. We met some fascinating people from North America, England and Canada and made several new friends. The Bufflehead Cove Inn is indeed a little paradise, but I’m beginning to wish I hadn’t told you about it so that there will always be a room there for me!

The best inn ever!

Buffleahead Cove is magic! Like all magic, we are not always aware of how it happened, just that it did. From the minute you walk in the door at Bufflehead Cove, you feel your entire body begin to relax. Is it the paint color of the living room or the fabulous view of the river from the front window? Is it Harriet’s warm personality or the smell of Jim’s cooking? Or could it be the incredibly decorated guest rooms? Whatever causes that magic, I know that we have just accepted it. Harriet and Jim at Bufflehead Cove have created the best inn of all time. In over six visits to the inn, I am barely arriving and I am already trying to determine when I can next return.

Victorian Gem

My husband and I discovered this very special bed and breakfast many years ago and have made it a regular event in our summers. Located on the Kennebunk River, this beautiful sea captain’s Victorian home is a piece of New England at its best. From the moment you step onto the long veranda looking out at the Kennebunk River you feel as if you have stepped back in time to a period of history when Kennebunkport was a major shipbuilding community.

There is something about the inn that makes you relax immediately. And though the original charm of the era has been maintained , the real credit goes to the proprietors, Harriet and Jim Gott. They truly make you feel as if you are a friend who has come to visit.

Throughout your stay you can’t help but notice the thought put into everything. The inn is spacious with a large livingroom focussed on a lovely fireplace where guests share a glass of wine and h’or deuvres in the evenings. If you are there in the summer, breakfast is often served at private tables on the veranda or on the landing directly above the river (weather permitting). On cloudy days the gracious dining area is used with all guests seated family style. And the breakfasts are superb. Jim was a former professional cook so you are in for a treat. Harriet and Jim love to travel in the “off-season” and many times the menu includes dishes they have discovered abroad.

What strikes most guests seems to be the complete attention to detail. Each suite is decorated around a concept. We have stayed in 3 of the 5 rooms and each was like a little haven. Our favorite is the balcony room because we love the artwork. In most rooms, local artists have done wall paintings or tiles to match each theme.

And though you are only a short distance from local beaches, galleries, shops, restaurants and everything else the bustling village of Kennebunkport has to offer, in the inn you have complete quiet and seclusion.

Bufflehead Cove: The Quintessential Country Inn

Absolutely my favorite country inn, and I’ve stayed in at least 100. It’s a century-old farmhouse on a private lane by the banks of the Kennebunk River in Kennebunkport, Southern Maine. What makes it so special? Just about everything. Start with the riverside location, where you can see the tide roll in and out, add a forest right behind the large back yard, and the Bufflehead ducks and other creatures that “cruise” up and down the river. Location, location, location! I can easily say that Harriet and Jim’s full breakfasts are among the most delicious — and definitely the most creative — I’ve enjoyed anywhere. And, they’re experts on dining in the area, which includes many excellent restaurants in all price categories. More gracious, caring hosts will not be found anywhere you go.

If the word “farmhouse” conjurs up something plain, simple, sparse, or ordinary in your mind, you’ve got it all wrong. Each suite is individually decorated with highly imaginative, luxurious furnishings that simply shout, “Luxury! Comfort!” There’s just about every amenity you can name: jacuzzi tubs, Bose radios, beautiful thick comforters and colorful sheets and blankets, an abundance of fascinating books and magazines, gourmet candies with turndown service. The only thing “country” about Bufflehead Cove is that it’s more than a mile from town, which adds to the quiet and tranquil setting.

Fresh flowers of many varieties abound during the summer, and breakfast on the large wraparound porch, with these flowers at every table (and decorating your plates), can’t be beat. For those who crave total privacy for a romantic getaway, there’s a replica of the main house a short distance away that’s a wonderful, cozy — yet very spacious — hidewaway.

For pet lovers who miss their “children” while away from home, make friends with Lily, the inn’s lovely black Laborador retriever. She won’t intrude on your privacy by entering the house, but she’ll be there to greet you every time you drive up. A sweeter dog I’ve never met.

Bufflehead Cove is my final destination on my end-of-summer New England vacation every summer. Although Kennebunkport is full of luxury hotels and historic inns, I couldn’t bring myself to stay anywhere else.

Best Romantic Waterside Hideaway in the Kennebunks

Bufflehead Cove Inn, Kennepunkport Maine is certainly a private little piece of heaven. Located on a tidal river in a secluded cove, you are just a step away from the Old ‘Port.

I’ve been coming back for over 15 years, and I never tire of the personal service, gracious hosts, gourmet breakfasts, plumped pillows, turn-down service, jacuzzi tubs and spectacular waterviews.

I’ve managed to stay in all the rooms – each offering a potpourri of magical ingredients: cozy fireplaces, antique whatnots and coastal whimsy, soft music . . . romantic bedrooms with plenty of pampering. It’s not a place to bring the kids.

Besides the five star service and the opportunity to just relax and be pampered, there’s plenty to do and see in the area, great restaurants, beaches, golf courses, coastal paths & buike routes.

There is no better place to stay in the Kennebunks than Bufflehead Cove inn! I can’t wait to go back for my favorite two nights in August.

Home Away From Home

My husband and I stayed with Harriet and Jim Gott, and of course, Lily, the beautiful black Lab, Inn- keepers at Bufflehead Cove Inn, in Kennebunkport, Me.

I now call Bufflehead Cove my home away from home. The first time we met Harriet and Jim, we felt like we knew them for years. They made us feel like family. Our Garden Room had it’s own private entrance with a courtyard. Our immaculate and beautiful room was an eclectic gathering of delightful furniture, vases, flower arrangements, bookcases with old and new books. Our fireplace filled the room with a gentle glowing warmth, and over the mantle was a bottle of Sherry, only to add to that extra glow ! Our bed was filled with soft, fluffy pillows, a thick plush comforter, and a mattress as comfortable as sleeping on a cloud. Our bathroom was stocked with the little extras, and after a hot shower, we wrapped in thick, plush towels and sipped Bufflehead’s own bottled water. Every morning we were greeted at our door by Lily, the black Lab, who was anxiously waiting for that first bounce of her ball. We started our day with a 3 course sumptuous breakfast prepared by Jim and graciously served by Harriet. ( my husband wanted to take Jim and Harriet home with us) We were in no hurry to pound the pavement after breakfast. Sometimes we just sat on the porch or the viewing dock, overlooking the River and listening to the trees and nature speak it’s own language. Anyone visiting the Kennebunks in Maine, MUST experience Bufflehead Cove Inn and it’s gracious host and hostess, Harriet and Jim, and of course, Lily. BUT – make room for us – we’re coming back. Sandy and Bob Scharmann

A WONDERFUL Inn–Our top choice!

We like B&Bs, and we like Maine, so we spent a couple of summers going up and down the coast of Maine to find the perfect places for repeat summer visits. The Inn at Bufflehead Cove is our clear first choice out of the many we visited-and we’re VERY picky about where we stay! It’s a wonderful place-a lovely spot on the water, well-decorated and very comfortable public and guest rooms, memorable mouth-watering breakfasts, warm and terrifically helpful innkeepers-tops on all dimensions. Kennebunkport is a nifty little town with lots to see and do, plenty of good restaurants and good places to walk and drive. We travel a lot on business, we’ve stayed in many hotels and B&Bs around the world-and this is our absolute favorite place. We return every year (as do many others–LOTS of repeat guests, one of the best signs)–and it’s always a pleasure.

Loved every second

My fiance and I stayed in the Hideaway Suite for 5 nights and 4 days.

It was hands down the best room of any sort that we have stayed in.

From the big, comfy king size bed to the jacuzzi tub for 2 with the complimentary champagne, to the warm gas powered fireplace, everything was magnificent.

We had a Bose Wave Radio to listen to, 2 personal bathrobes to use and a full size glassed in shower.

The decor and ambiance were top notch. The service was 5 star. The full course breakfest meals were wonderful and delicious. Ours views the river were great as was the forest all around use.

Overall one of the most relaxing times you could have and have it in luxury.

Founded in 1939, the Seashore Trolley Museum has grown into the largest electric railway museum in the world with a collection representing almost every major American city that had a streetcar system. See the beginning of mass transportation from the omnibus to the development of the electric streetcar, and follow the progress to today’s buses, light rail vehicles, and rapid transit cars. Our collection contains vehicles from almost all major cities in the United States that had streetcar systems, as well as from other cities across the globe, to provide samples of how generations past moved about for work, school and leisure and to show the dedicated craftsmanship put forth to construct these workhorse vehicles.

Take a tour around our property, you’ll find a multitude of displays to show the history behind mass transportation. Explore our three exhibit carbarns and then witness the restoration process of a streetcar from the observation gallery in our restoration shop. Hands down, the favorite part of a visit to the Seashore Trolley Museum is the chance to ride a streetcar out along a rebuilt portion of the Atlantic Shore Line Railway, once an electric interurban route. Our volunteers will place you into the bygone era and explain why and where you would be riding a trolley to in the early 1900s.

During some of our special events we take to the occasion and bring out equipment that we don’t normally operate every day. If you’re interested in riding on a bus or subway train, keep an eye on the Calendar of Events.

They stretch along Beach Avenue from the breakwater at the mouth of the Kennebunk River to Lord’s Point for 1 1/2 miles. Sidewalks extend the whole way for those interested in combining exercise and people watching.

Tucked in a sheltered cove at the southern end is Mother’s Beach, a perfect sand beach, which is the smallest of the Kennebunk Beaches, at 750 feet. With a playground right on the beach and gentle waves, it is a popular choice for families with youngsters. Lifeguards are on duty from 9 AM to 5 PM at Mother’s and Gooch’s beaches. No food is available, but the stores of Lower Village are about a half mile away.

Mother’s Beach is located on the west end of Beach Avenue, off Routes 9 and 35. On-street parking alongside any of the Kennebunk beaches is by permit only from June 15 to September 15 during the day from 9 AM to 5 PM. Beach parking permits for non-residents cost $5 for the day, $15 for the week and $30 for the season. Vehicles longer than 18’ may require additional fees. They are available at the town offices at routes 1 and 35 during the week, at the police station in the same building and at the Chamber of Commerce in Lower Village. During the season, no animals are allowed on the beach from 9 AM to 5 PM; dogs must be on leashes at other times, and “pooper-scooper” laws are always in effect. No alcohol is allowed at any time. Or… simply catch the trolley and ask to be dropped off at the beach.

If you are familiar with traveling by humvee (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) you know there is a limit to the regions they reach. The gutsy trekker refuses to limit their travel to land only, preferring the Cessna Caravan Amphibian as their transportation of choice. The Caravan is unmatched in its ability to smoothly land on water. The Caravan floats in place of landing gear and is equipped with wheels for land transportation — a real mulit-tasker. If you are new to this mode of travel, cheap flights are readily available.

Make no mistake; there is no replacement for the Cessna Caravan Amphibian and its distinct turboprop driving force. It comfortably seats nine travelers allowing for one person to serve as both driver and crew. Every bit and more than the Boeing 727, the Cessna Caravan Amphibian is the fastest, most powerful float plane on the market.

The Caravan is gifted with Wipaire Wipline floats allowing it to trek the planet night and day supplying goods and services to out-of-reach land and sea areas of the globe. The aviation community refers to the Caravan as the go-to for dependability in both recreation and vocation, which is reflected in the ongoing need for increased production. Cheap airfares are not a thing of the past. A little investigation and you will find yourself in the air.
Join the Who’s Who of ownership including: Entertainer Jimmy Buffett who proudly displays his parrot insignia on the tail of his Caravan; investment banker George Soros; Miami Dolphins holder Wayne Huizenga; Johnson Wax President Samuel Johnson; One of the heirs to Wal-Mart, Sam Walton; and, Land’s End creator Gary Comer.

Whichever way you choose to use your Caravan, as a flying ship, or to run errands to those hard to reach places that are unsuitable for a helicopter, or parked on the aft deck of a vessel for an emergency exodus: you are prepared for any situation.

Attesting to the versatility and spirit of exploration is Caravan proprietor Montanan Kent Williams. He spends his summer months on his vessel in Alaska with his Caravan secured and close at hand. He is more than familiar with Cessnas, and touts his Caravan as being in a class all its own, and sometimes he even addresses his vessel as his “flying cruise ship”. And, he would know since he has safely landed his Caravan during rapidly worsening conditions on much less than a landing field. The dependability of the turboprop jet engine, initiated in 1998, permits the power to gather speed and climb with immediate flexibility. Since the Caravan is fuel conscious, there is no need to haul reserve gas tanks.

On an end-of-summer journey to Alaska’s Brooks Range for the caribou passage and the season’s change of colors, Williams packed his Caravan with sufficient rations and camping supplies changing his Caravan into an airborne Winnebago. Landing In the remote outpost of Beetles, bush aviators engulfed the Caravan each night eager for discussion and a ride. Williams obliged their requests leaving them in awe of the places you can visit and the notoriety it brings to its pilot.

Hello! My name is Mia and I live in Rome. I am an art student. I study at Cornell University in Rome. I’m especially interested in contemporary art and I have already had a number of group and individual exhibitions at local art galleries. I travel to Belgium next week, to participate in workshops for young artists which are held in Argos gallery in Brussels. Argos is one of the leading art galleries in Brussels. It promotes and supports audio visual art in all its forms. I believe it’s going to be very useful and fun experience. In addition, I hope I’m going to meet a lot of interesting people there! I’m very excited about my trip, since I’ve never been to Brussels before. I have been searching the Net for last few days and there were a great number of cheap apartments Brussels offered. I booked a charming apartment close to famous city’s landmark, the Atomium. I’m planning to see other important cultural sites as well.

Furthermore, I plan to visit the Centre of Contemporary Art and Museum of Modern Art during my stay in Brussels. They have some pretty impressive installations. Of course, I’m not going to miss to visit some of the most important galleries in the city, such as Museum of Ancient Art, Palace of Fine Arts and Guillaume Charlier Museum. My holiday apartment will be an ideal base for all of my trips across the city. It is a lovely studio with the small balcony with the stunning view in the sunset. Generally speaking, holiday apartments Brussels are the best alternative to city’s hotels, since they offer much more freedom and privacy than hotel rooms. What is more, they are offered at more affordable prices. If you travel to Belgium’s capital, I believe that cheap apartments Brussels are the best choice.

I plan to travel to Brussels again in April to visit Art Brussels, a fair of modern art that is held annually. This is one of the most prominent international art fairs and it is visited by over 30,000 artists and art lovers every year. I will search the Net for the best cheap apartments Brussels again and I’m pretty sure that I am going to find the perfect one among all those beautiful holiday apartments Brussels in Belgium has to present. I think I’m going to have a wonderful time during my stay in Brussels!

Traveling to another country can often be a requirement of one’s job or even of their personal life. There may come certain times, such as with a wedding, that your personal life calls you away to a faraway place. In other instance you may be called away to a foreign country in service of your job. Regardless of what your reasons for having to leave the country you will definitely want to make sure that you are able to make the trip without having to pay too much money to make it happen.

Air lines can be a little bit expensive so it may be best to try and locate the cheapest deals for the destination that you are headed to. Most airlines will differ slightly in their prices and you may have a hard time getting the flight that you want to get unless you spend the extra time before you leave to book the flight and seat that you want. There are many different web sites that allow for travellers to compare rates and make an informed decision in regards to which flight and airline they will take.

As consumers in the UK find that their pounds do not stretch as far as they used to when they go abroad, holidays at home are becoming more and more popular. This has coincided with a rise in popularity of websites like wimdu.co.uk that allow people to list rooms in their home, or their entire house as available for holidaymakers to rent. This means you can find Cozy London B&Bs , luxurious apartments in Edinburgh or a place to stay in the centre of Manchester without having to visit multiple websites.

These holiday letting sites require guests to rate and review the accuracy of the description their host provided, the quality of the accommodation they provided and whether they felt their stay was a successful one. Hosts cannot delete a review once it has been posted and only members that booked through the site can leave a review, so you can be sure that there is no way that any manipulation or fraudulent activity can take place, meaning you can take the reviews at face value.

As these sites grow in popularity, the number of destinations available to potential customers also increases. This summer, it is feasible that hotels and hostels in London will raise their prices, as the capital sees a dramatic increase in the number of visitors, due to the Olympic Games. By going private and renting directly from the homeowner, you stand to save money, as well as experiencing a unique break with insights into the local area, like the best restaurants to eat in and places to avoid, that a large chain hotel cannot possible provide.

If you want the all-inclusive resort experience but want to stay in the UK, there is a wide selection of coastal resorts and country estates that offer the closest thing to white sandy beaches and clear waters this country can offer, minus the air fare. There is a fantastic choice of breaks available in the UK, all it takes is a little searching to find a holiday that you will remember forever.

We were in dilemma as which place to visit during the vacations. After consulting my friends and relatives they have advised us to visit Thailand as it contains some beautiful sandy beaches, superb cuisine and splendid natural vistas. There are many tourist places in Thailand. The city has some huge sky scrapers, ancient temples, tranquil green areas. So we decide to book a car to roam in the city and the great advantage of taking car from hyrbil service than choosing a package is we do not have any time limit and travel as you wish. And then we booked a car from the biluthyrning car hire site. These cars hire site offers the car rentals at very low cost when compared to other sites. When you visit the main page of this site you can observe the various quotes of the other sites and it will make you feel surprise by looking at the prices of car. That car that we selected has good air conditioning, hand controls for physically challenged people, a navigator to locate the address and the main feature is that it provides a good driver with huge experience in driving on the roads of city. I want to thank the site for providing such kind of services and making the trip wonderful.
